October 2016

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month & ADHD Awareness Month. These 2 issues affect many children all over the world. What affects these children even more, is the associated stigma, especially in the case of Down Syndrome.

Battling the stereotypes and negativity were 2 inspirational stories

A young girl with Down Syndrome had a message for the world in a video that went viral.

Here’s an article¬†about that girl and her brother.

Another story that touched hearts was about a mother who refused to give up when her (adorable) toddler with Down Syndrome was not given a chance at a modelling shoot.

This month saw a significant day as well: the International Day of the Girl Child

We held a Twitter Campaign to empower girls:

#AsAGirl got a good response with many wonderful 140 character stories:

Our founder, Taha’s blog was also featured by the United Nations Girl’s Education Initiative to commemorate the special day:

You can read it here.

That was the exciting month of October. We look forward to more campaigns and events in November.

Just a few more days till applications close for the #HEARD initiative.
